Michelle Kelly Must Sit Her Test For A Fourth Time

09th September 2008

The Daily Express is reporting that a mother was stunned to fail her driving test because she splashed a pedestrian's shoes when she drove through a puddle in the rain.

Michelle Kelly's examiner told her it was technically a crash and she should have stopped and exchanged details with the man.

"His decision was ludicrous - I did not do it on purpose," she said.

Mother-of-two Mrs Kelly, 31, was concentrating on the road when she drove through the puddle halfway through her test in August.

The splash soaked the man's shoes as he waited at a bus stop near her home in Blackley, north Manchester.

When she finished the test, the examiner said she had failed because she should have stopped and exchanged insurance details with him.

Mrs Kelly is angry because she now has to raise £200 to take more lessons and sit her test for a fourth time.

"I could not believe it when I pulled in back at the test centre and the examiner said he'd failed me and that was that," she said.

"He then spoke at length about the splashing. I didn't think that much about going through the puddle at the time but he said it had been a fault."
